Tooth whitening will remove most discolorations of teeth with a gentle peroxide whitening gel. It is inevitable that teeth will discolor due to smoking, aging, excessive fluoride or deterioration of a nerve. Tooth whitening treatment can be performed chair side or with take home treatments.

Pournaras Cosmetics also specializes in the Zoom Laser Whitening system. "Zoom" has been has gained popularity because it is rated the #1 laser bleaching system by Dentistry's "Reality" magazine. It is also the preferred laser whitening system used by ABC's Extreme Makeover™ Show.

"Zoom" is a very safe, light activated power gel, which bleaches your teeth. It is quite effective and results vary with each patient. There are a few light- activated bleaching systems on the market, but in Dr. Pournaras' opinion, this one far exceeds the others. The process takes approximately 1 to 2 hours total. Set-up time takes approximately 15 minutes.

The cost will vary depending on the patient, but ranges from $500 to $600. Unfortunately, dental insurance does not cover the whitening because it is considered cosmetic, however, please see our Financing Options page for more information.
