Crowns can also be used to improve the appearance of natural teeth that are malformed, poorly positioned, or discolored. A crown is a permanent covering that fits over your original tooth. Some people call them caps. They can be made of porcelain, gold and other materials.

All porcelain crowns have the most realistic appearance, although they tend to be slightly less durable than other materials.
